Frequently asked questions that are asked:
-
Our youth group is looking to get involved. Where do we start?
Register your interest with us, telling us your location and the age group that would be involved. We would then direct you to the sites that sell the EV kits.
-
Our youth group is looking to get involved. Where do we start?
This will depend on the car - For example, the Goblin is currently £1735 ex VAT. The F24 Kit car is £3275 ex VAT.
-
If part of the kit breaks, how easy is it to get replacement parts?
Replacement parts are sold separately from the kit manufacturer or online sites.
-
Is there a limit to the number of people in a Team?
No. Although only one person can drive the car at any one point, members of the team are required for fundraising, promoting the initiative through social media, designing the bodywork of the car, and building the car. There are numerous roles to be filled, and there are usually several drivers whom each drive part of the time at an event.
-
Can the car be taken apart and built again the next year?
Yes. We would encourage this. It would allow a new year to learn about how electric vehicles run and give them a chance to improve on the year before.
-
How much storage space is required for the car?
The storage space is the size of the vehicle, and the working space needs to be at least a meter more each way.
-
Once built, how easy is it to get to the race venue? Do we have to arrange special transport?
Most teams use a school bus or transit van. There are organisations that help the schools by transporting the cars for nothing. Contact us for details.
-
How will we know how to put it together?
Information is on the Car websites and on YouTube.
-
If we get stuck is there someone who can help us?
Yes, we have a network of car enthusiasts who can either help face-to-face or via Teams.
-
How long does it take to build?
Example: Both the Goblin and the F24 are approximately 15 hours
-
How much will it cost to compete on race day?
We have a number of sponsors for the events, so we do not expect to make a charge.
-
Are there different categories on race day?
Yes there are different classes for the cars and how modified they have been.
